KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has issued a ‘diffusion notice’ against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.

INTERPOL issued the diffusion notice at the request of Nepal Police, according to sources at Nepal Police Headquarter. A member country can request INTERPOL to issue this type of notice when it wants cooperation from each other through separate alert mechanism.

All 135 countries that are part of the INTERPOL now will help trace whereabouts and arrest Lamichhane with the issuance of the notice.

Lamichhane is accused of raping a minor girl. He left the country to play in the Caribbean League and has not returned home after the girl filed a complaint with the police. Police have not been able to even get a clue where Lamichhane is currently living.
